Sheila Davre knows the country as the first woman auto driver, Sheela left her home at the age of 18 after taking her 12th with only 12 rupees in her hands. Sheila Davre left home with many dreams and came to Pune. It was in the eighties, at that time, only men used to drive cabs in khaki dress. In such a situation, Sheila started wearing an auto wearing a salwar kameez, during which she faced a lot of opposition but she did not back down. Sheila Davre started driving at a time when women did not travel alone in auto. Wherever Shila used to take the auto, people used to look at him with surprise.

Shila says that in the beginning people were afraid of renting auto to them just because they were women. But gradually adding money and with the help of the union, she bought an auto rickshaw of hes own. While driving the auto, she met her husband Shirish Kamble. Shirish is also an auto driver, till 2001 husband Shirish and Sheela Davre used to drive different autos.

After about 13 years of auto-driving, he had to leave the job due to lack of health. Today she and her husband run their own travel company. Her husband Shirish always supported her. Sheila says that, 'My parents also took this decision fiercely. But today they are very happy to see him at this stage.
